St Mary’s are unique because we give our students the opportunity to study all subjects for the full year before choosing their preferred subjects in 2nd Year.

No but most students do undertake Transition Year.

Yes e.g. Outdoor Pursuit Centre in Kinsale.
What do 1st Years do on their first day in St. Mary's High School?
a)An introductory talk with Mr. D.Ó Briain, Ms N O’Connor, Mr M. Feeney and Your Year Head Ms M Byrne.
b)Meet with Their Senior Cycle Mentors who will remain with them for the first day and check in with them throughout the school year.
c)Each class will then meet their class teacher and the pupils are given a tour of the school.
d)Each pupil will then follow her timetable and meet her teachers as the day progresses.

School Begins 8.50 a.m.
Mid-Morning Break 10.10 a.m. – 10:25 a.m.
Lunch 12:25pm – 1.05p.m.
School Finishes 3.45 p.m.
Does St Mary’s have a transition to Secondary Programme?
Yes. We at St Mary’s appreciate how important the transition to Post primary is for students and we put structures in place to support our girls to have a smooth transition. Our girls are part of Forming First Years programme for the first 10 weeks of 1st Year. We work on building friendships, resilience, respect, fun, study techniques and a true sense of belonging.
How does St Mary’s compare to other schools academically?
St Mary’s High School rates above the National Norms in Leaving Certificate results every Year. We pride ourselves on ensuring that each child reaches her potential, whatever that potential might be.
Is St Mary’s a digital School?
St Mary’s High School is a Digital School. We leverage a hybrid of traditional and digital teaching styles to give our students the best learning experience. As of September 2022, we are introducing a 1 to 1 student device policy to further enhance teaching and learning in our school. Information regards this will be communicated with all prospective students and guardians via email during the month of October.
