Non Teaching Personnel
The procedures outlined here apply to all non-teaching personnel e.g. Visiting Speakers and Instructors, After School Study Supervisors, Private Speech and Drama Tutors, Personnel helping with school events, Service Providers who have occasion to be on site during school times, Examiners for mock Orals/Practicals, Health Nurses, Volunteers of any sort etc. (the list is not exhaustive and includes only the most common examples). This procedure cannot be used to vet a teacher. It is for non teaching personnel only.
All potential employees such as SNAs, Caretakers, School Secretaries, Ancillary Staff, Cleaners, Sports Coaches, Trainers, Classroom or Corridor Supervisors must complete the process outlined below and must also comply with those procedures starred ** on the personnel procedure page.
STEP 1
You must complete form NVB1.
STEP 2
You must present ID to the school Principal which reaches 100 points on the eVetting Check of Identity scale. On submission of your ID documents, you (or the teacher progressing your application ) should request a confirmation letter from the Principal.
STEP 4
Post the completed NVB1 form and Confirmation Letter to

You must submit a confirmation letter from the principal in order to be vetted. It is not enough to just submit an NVB1.
STEP 5
A vetting invitation will be issued to the email submitted on the NVB1 form. Once this form has been completed online the vetting process will commence. The time required to issue Garda Vetting can vary from a few days to a few weeks depending on a variety of factors.
STEP 6
The vetting letter will issue to the school when it is ready. It is the responsibility of the applicant to check whether or not the Garda Vetting has reached the school before they present at the school.
